About Us

Mt Cook Alpine Salmon has pioneered salmon farming in New Zealand's pristine hydro canals since 1992. Today, we operate five unique aquaculture farms in the crystal-clear waters near Twizel, where we're proud to be the region's largest employer. Our vertically integrated operation includes two wholly owned hatcheries and a strategic 25% stake in a third, ensuring complete control over our premium salmon production.

At the heart of our operations are two specialist facilities: our state-of-the-art processing plant in Timaru and our Christchurch facility, home of our renowned Aoraki smoked salmon brand. Together, our 200-strong team, guided by experienced management and a board chaired by Sir Bill English, maintains our position as one of New Zealand's fastest-growing salmon producers.

Our unique Freshwater King Salmon has earned its place in premium establishments worldwide, both food service and premium retail, with over 50% of our production exported to discerning international markets. In New Zealand, our salmon grace the counters of premium retailers like Farro, Moore Wilson's, and Common Sense, and feature on the menus of the country's finest restaurants.
