Phoenix Metal Recyclers

Phoenix Metal Recyclers NZ Limited (“PMR” or “Phoenix”) is New Zealand’s largest privately owned metals recycling business. The company operates a vertically integrated model across a well-established nationwide network of 12 New Zealand sites (including 3 processing and export hubs).

PMR’s core business is the collection, processing and sale of ferrous (iron and steel) and non-ferrous (e.g. aluminium, copper, lead acid batteries) metals for re-use by a diverse range of recurring global and domestic customers. PMR also has a division focused on the demolition of large commercial sites, with the recovered metals recycled and sold by PMR.

PMR is well-positioned for further growth via bolt-on acquisitions and through utilising PMR’s existing network and expertise to expand into complementary adjacencies such as electronic waste and lithium battery recycling.

Metals recycling is an attractive export niche in the New Zealand waste industry - PMR is one of only two scale players ($20m rev+), providing opportunity for consolidation at attractive multiples.

Strong ESG credentials means the company will play a critical role in the decarbonisation of New Zealand’s economy and the sector will likely attract increasing investor interest, with ESG a fast-growing global investment strategy (ESG global AUM is expected to reach USD50tn in 2025 from USD35tn today).

Periodic trading on Catalist

We will hold annual auctions after providing an information update on the company. Additional auctions may be held as required. Investors can submit bids to buy and offers to sell units at the auctions.

You can participate in auctions if you are:

  • An existing unit holder; or
  • Verified as a wholesale investor.

Details about the auction, including bid and offer buttons, will appear at the top of this page when an auction is live. Investors are notified about new auctions by email.

How the auctions work

1: Submit your order during the 'Open' period of the auction. We cannot accept new orders after this period ends.

2: Make payment for bids before the end of the Open period, or within 24 hours of the bid if later. You will receive further information about how to make payment after you submit a bid.

3: Consider improving your bids or offers. During the 'Pre-close' period they can only be improved by up to 10%.

Please don’t hesitate to ask for help if you are unsure about how to do something. If you have any questions about using the Catalist platform please check Catalist's FAQs or contact Catalist at hello@catalist.co.nz.
